Huron Perth Crime Stoppers like all Crime Stoppers Programs is a registered charity that helps make streets safer by connecting the Community, Media and the Police together to combat all types of crime. This is done by allowing members of the Community to ANONYMOUSLY provide Tips on criminal activity through the Crime Stoppers toll-free phone number or on the web site that are then sent to the Police to be investigated. Typically, Tips are received for activities such as drug trafficking, break and enters, assault and vandalism but Crime Stoppers has many partners in the prevention of crime and Tips are also taken about the trafficking of endangered species, poaching as it relates to fishing and hunting, illegal dumping of garbage on Crown Land and the sales of contraband tobacco products.
Also work with the Department of Transport to help track down those who shine a laser beam in the eyes of airplane pilots and help prevent smuggling and thefts from the airports. Tipsters not only do not have to identify themselves or testify in court but they may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2000.
